Sports in 2006

It was an exciting year staring with 2 ski trips for both Fei and I. We joined the activities provided by the Space City Ski Club. With SCSC membership, all we have to do is singe up for the trips we like to go, sending in a check and just go and enjoy. We took the opportunity and went to Steamboat and Breckinridge. Both trips were lots of fun.

During the year, Fei and Tony have continuously enjoyed our dance hobby. We participated in 2 exhibitions showing off some of our hard work of our dancing routines. There are two more dance parties we will go before the end of the year.

Other Trips

Fei got another chance to make a trip with her girl friends visiting Palm Desert, CA. It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip. They were able to visit desert oasis, canyon fall lines, Joshua Tree National Park. Of course, we had a Blog for it with the following address:

Fei and Tony had a chance to join a Thanksgiving Holiday Retreat spending a long weekend at the Waterwood Golf Retreat near Huntsville, TX. It was a relaxing weekend. We did not play golf, however, we were able do some hiking, volleyball, and dancing.

Families and Friends Visits

We had a lot of families and friends visiting us throughout 2006.

Starting with Jeff and Jennifer's home visit to host their engagement party.

Jeff, Jennifer, Jason and Theresa were all home in May for a short visit. Jason had his birthday party with all of us during his stay in Houston.

Jeff and Jennifer had additional trips home to make their wedding site selection and met their wedding planner.

Jia-sun and family visited Grandpa and us in August. We did tour some Heights area in Houston which was the 1st time for us in our 20+ years in Houston.

Terry came to visit Grandpa twice this year. The 2nd time he visited just before the Thanksgiving. We had good time of eating and chatting.

Joe and Shirley once again brought his father to Houston to meet Grandpa. Joe's father and Grandpa are good old friends for 60+ years. It was amazing to have the opportunity to be together 2 years in a row.

Quite a few of our SMDC friends visited us this year. Flora and Jin came back from Shanghai for a short visit. T. A. and Lii Wan Ma also came in town from Bangkok to Houston in November for visit and showed up in our Hai-hwa Dancing Party. Belinda and Ron came back from Oregon for visit in November.

Joel and Bo-ling Huang also made their home-coming visit in November from Los Angeles. It has been 3 years since they moved to LA.

Our Dream Vacation - Mediterranean Curise

We finally made our dream trip – Mediterranean Cruise this fall.

It was from September 24 to October 8, 2006. We visited 10 cities in 14 days. With traveling, we had a total of 17 days trip. It was enjoyable but tight-scheduled trip.

We were able to see all the highlight spots in Barcelona, Marseille, Florence, Pisa, Pompeii, Capri, Rome, Mykonos, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Athens, and Venice.

A Lot of Weddings in 2006

We had 3 weddings to go to this year; Andy (Tony’s nephew, Helen’s son), Austin (Fei’s nephew, Chin’s son) and Lynn (our good friend Corrina and Edward’s daughter).

Andy’s wedding was in Oregon, we took the opportunity to visit Oregon as our 1st time in Oregon. It was a beautiful outdoor August wedding in Oregon.

Austin’s wedding was in Rochester, NY. It has been years since we visited Rochester. We took the opportunity to visit Tony’s cousin Shirley Tyan.

Lynn’s wedding was in Houston. We had great time with all the good friends in Houston.

Good News from the Tarns

Jeff and Jennifer’s good news. Jeff and Jennifer got engaged earlier this year. They came back to Houston to announce to their families. We had a wonderful engagement party at the Dharma Cafe in Houston Downtown. They are busy in planning 2007 wedding.

Jeff has a great year by creating his own company “Tarn’s Data System” and he is working for himself now.

Jennifer passed her California BAR and she is working in LA as a lawyer now. Jason is doing well in the Regent College (Vancouver, Canada) for his Master's degree.

Theresa got a full time permanent teaching job earlier this year. Due to her teaching schedule, Jason and Theresa can take a lot more time during X’mas holiday. They will be here for the X’mas and New Year. We are all looking forward to that.

BTW, Jeff and Jennifer will be home for X’mas too.

The Beginning of the Electronic Season Greetings via Blog

We always admire some of our friends who would write an annual holiday greeting news letter as part of season greetings during Christmas time.

We keep hoping to do the same in one of these years; however we have not been successful.
